Abstract

Hand sanitizer is a hand-cleaning product in the form of a gel or spray that contains antiseptic substances, used to clean hands without the need for rinsing with water. Handwashing itself is a form of sanitation aimed at maintaining cleanliness and health by cleaning the fingers using water or other liquids. In addition to being a hygienic habit, handwashing can also be part of religious rituals or other purposes.Today, keeping hands clean can also be achieved through the use of hand sanitizer. As part of hygiene education, a hand sanitizer-making activity was held at SDN Basilam Baru on May 2, 2025. The process involved mixing boiled lemongrass water with 70% alcohol, and was practiced directly by third-grade students of SDN Basilam Baru. This activity resulted in the production of four bottles of hand sanitizer, each containing 250 ml, made from a mixture of 30% lemongrass extract and 70% alcohol. The finished hand sanitizers were then distributed to both students and teachers, with priority given to those whose hands appeared visibly dirty.
