Hand sanitizer can be used as an antiseptic that functions to protect us from germs or dangerous pathogens and is an alternative to washing our hands when we travel. Hand sanitizer can be a product of choice for today's society, because it is easy to carry anywhere and easy to get or available on the market. There are many plants that can be used as natural ingredients for making hand sanitizers, one of which is betel leaves (Piper betle Linn) and lime (Citrus aurantifolia S.). This study uses a research approach, namely Library Research. Research with library studies is carried out by searching for previous articles containing research related to the effectiveness of betel leaves and limes in killing pathogens. The main content of betel leaves and limes can be a natural antiseptic because they contain essential oils and several flavonoids. The use of Betel Leaves and Limes for natural ingredients for making hand sanitizers has been proven effective in inhibiting the spread of pathogens and killing pathogens. The content of compound elements from these two natural ingredients functions as a natural antiseptic against several pathogens. Pathogens that have been proven to be able to be killed and inhibited from spreading are Staphylococcus aerus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp, Helicobacter pylori, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella thyposa, Staphylococcus haemoliticus, and Strepcoccus mutans. In Staphylococcus aerus bacteria, it can only inhibit its growth without being able to kill this bacteririal
