Abstract

Leg edema is one of the discomforts of pregnancy that pregnant women often complain about, leg edema is caused by fluid retention and increased venous pressure in the legs and uterine compression which inhibits venous return. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that around 80% of the prevalence of swelling is caused by fluid retention and increased venous pressure in the legs, the benefit of this study is that it can add insight and knowledge as well as valuable experience for researchers. This research is descriptive in nature by using accidental sampling where a sample of 20 respondents uses a questionnaire which is examined based on age, education, occupation, parity, information source. Based on the results of research conducted from 20 respondents, 2 people (10%) had a good knowledge frequency distribution, the majority had less knowledge, aged 20-40 years, 14 people (70%), the majority had less knowledge with IRT jobs, 10 people (50%) ), the majority had less knowledge with multiparous mother parity as many as 80 (40%), the majority had less knowledge with electronic media information sources 12 people (60%). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the majority of pregnant women's knowledge about foot massage and soaking in warm water mixed with kenur to reduce the degree of leg edema is still lacking so it is expected that pregnant women will increase their knowledge about foot edema through health workers and electronic media.
